Sociology
The Department of Sociology was established as a full-fledged department in the year 1981. However, a single paper had been taught since the inception of the college in 1972. The department has five faculty members (three regular, one contract and one lecture basis). We have a total strength of about 250 students. In the year 2016, our college has been recognised as a Research Centre to pursue Ph.D. in the subjects of Sociology. Our department established the Sociology Study Circle in the year 1988. The mission of the study club is to provide up-to-date, useful and marketable knowledge and to expose the students to the world of experience and to imbibe high ethical values among them.
- To expose the students to the leading sociologists by organising lectures, debates and seminars
- To relate classroom teaching to the practical realities of society through visits to institutions and organising educational tours.
- To build self confidence among the students among the students by providing leadership opportunities and a platform to actively participate in inter-class and inter-collegiate activities.
Our study club has a small managing committee of office-bearers to plan, co-ordinate and execute the activities of the club.
