PROFILE

Department of Business Administration was established in the year 2000 by Shrimati Lalita Joshi. Under her leadership, the college first began with Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) and then later B.B.A. (Shipping & Logistics) in the year 2013.

B.B.A. and B.B.A. (Shipping & Logistics) are three year duration programmes affiliated to Goa University and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

The department is situated in the state of the art management block of M.E.S. Joshi College; M.E.S.’s Rajaram and Tarabai Bandekar Academy of Management Education. Student centric interactive learning pedagogy is used to make the learning process effective. All classrooms are ICT enabled with wi-fi connectivity, smartboards, and LCD projector. The seating arrangement is flexible to suit the demands of the course and for better exchange of ideas between the students. Computer lab facility is also provided to facilitate the learning process. Book bank is a unique facility provided wherein students can issue books for the course and return it after the course completion. In addition to this students can access a number of journals, and magazines.

To make students industry ready, the college has been a member of CII Goa Logistics panel and has also signed MOU with R. A. Podar College, Mumbai, Goa Management Association (GMA), Airport Authority of India (AAI) as well as Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI) . Students are exposed to practical aspects through industry visits and guest sessions by industry professionals and get internship opportunity in second and third year. To further enhance the learning experience students are encouraged to organize and participate in various inter-collegiate management events, and attend industry conferences and thereby gain confidence and latest update about the industry landscape. Students are also trained in various soft skills to build a holistic personality such as written and oral communication, presentation skills, and team work. Students are offered various certificate courses to make them more employable.

BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (B.B.A.)

In the late 1990s industrialists in Goa approached the then Education Minister, Shri. Luizinho Faleiro regarding the requirement of trained management professionals in the industry. The Dean of Department of Management Studies, Goa University, Late Dr. Ancheri Sreekumar designed the B.B.A. program along with industrialists from Goa on the pattern followed by Harvard Business School. Only 3 colleges in Goa were given permission to run the program in the year 2000. MES College was one of them.

After completing the B.B.A. programme students will become competent in undertaking an entry level managerial position in organizations and develop the required soft skills for the profession. Students can build their career in Human Resources, Marketing, or Finance domain or have an entrepreneurial venture of their own. Those desirous of pursuing higher education can enroll in a Master’s degree programme in Management and allied areas.

ADMISSION TO BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (BBA)

To be eligible for admission to the first year of the Three Years Programme leading to the Degree of Business Administration ( Bachelor of Business Administration) the candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination in any stream, including Vocational stream from a recognized board.

The Criteria of selection would be as follows:

  • XII Std. Marks
  • Entrance Exam
  • Personal Interview

Admission Procedure

A) Undergraduate Programme - B.B.A. & B.B.A. - Shipping & Logistics Semester I & II The admission process will be managed in online mode through the SAMARTH e-gov Portal of the Directorate of Higher Education DHE, Government of Goa. Candidates aspiring to seek admission should register themselves on the SAMARTH e-gov Portal. Upon registration on the SAMARTH e-gov Portal, the students will be able to generate login credentials required to login to the SAMARTH e-gov Portal for all future correspondence.

    1. The Admission link is available on the college website https://www.mescollege.org/ and Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) website https://dhe.goa.gov.in/resource/admissiondata/
    2. Gmail ID is mandatory to begin the admission process.
    3. The following documents are required to be uploaded during the admission process:-
      1. A passport size photo of the candidate and signature of the candidate (not exceeding 1 MB and in .jpg format).
      2. Scanned copy of original marksheet of SSC/ Equivalent examination
      3. Scanned copy of original marksheet of HSSC/ Equivalent examination
      4. Scanned copy of original Leaving Certificate/ Transfer Certificate
      5. Eligibility Certificate (in original) issued by Goa University (for those students who have passed standard XII or any other equivalent examination through any other recognized Board other than Goa Board, if applicable)
    4. Each Candidate is allowed to make only one application per stream on the admission portal.
    5. Only students selecting our college as the first preference will be considered while preparing the merit list.
    6. After completion of the online process, students will be called for counselling in the college. The students will be contacted via email and the merit list will be uploaded on the college website
    7. The student has to be present with the following documents
      1. Print copy of online admission
      2. 3 passport sized photographs
      3. Original and photocopy of SSC marksheet/ Equivalent examination
      4. Original and photocopy of HSSC marksheet/ Equivalent examination
      5. Eligibility Certificate (in original) issued by Goa University (for those students who have passed standard XII or any other equivalent examination through any other recognized Board other than Goa Board, if applicable)
      6. Photocopy of original Caste Certificate/Physical Disability/Economically Weaker Section, if applicable
      7. Original and self-attested copy of Aadhar card
      8. Bank Passbook and self-attested photocopy of the first page
      9. Undertaking by the students, Undertaking by the parents, and Undertaking for discipline and attendance (The Undertakings will be given during the counselling session)
    8. The student should pay the admission fees after the counselling and subject allocation. Fees may differ according to the subjects selected.
    9. Admission will be confirmed only after full payment of fees. Failure to submit the necessary documents will lead to cancellation of admissions
    10. For applicants who are not shortlisted in the first round of admission:
      1. A passport size photo of the candidate and signature of the candidate (not exceeding 1 MB and in .jpg format).
      2. Applicants may get a chance in the second round of admission, depending on the availability of seats.

(B) The Admission procedure for Semesters III, IV, V, VI, VII & VIII under NEP will be updated shortly according to the ordinance and notifications received from Goa University and Directorate of Higher Education (DHE)

Students from HSSC Boards other than Goa have to get Provisional Eligibility Certificate from Goa University within 3 months you have to submit MIGRATION Certificate.

After completing B.B.A. programme the Student can pursue a Master's degree programme in Management (MBA) and its allied areas. Further Student can alsopursue Phd.

SY BBA students visited Mall de Goa, Porvorim Goa on 12th February 2025 as part of their Retail, Sales & Distribution Management course.

On 12th February 2025, SY BBA students visited the Goa Hyundai Car Showroom in Verna Goa for a field visited as a part of Retail, Sales & Distribution Management, and Talent Acquisition & Employee Engagement courses.

SYBBA students visited Fairfield by Marriot, Benaulim on 11th February 2025 as part of the course Consumer Behaviour and Business Research Methods.

Field Trip at SA Financial Services, Margao as a part of Investment Planning course for T.Y.B.B.A. students on 21st August 2024. The resource person provided a practical overview of online screen based trading system of stock exchanges.

Mr. Cedric Rodrigues, Senior Sales Manager, Durga Motors conducted a session on Consumer Behaviour and Marketing Management: Practical Insights and Strategies for FYBBA and SYBBA students on 11th March 2025 as part of their courses Marketing Management and Consumer Behaviour respectively.

 

Mr. Neeraj Naik, CEO and Founder of Vishkar Modernizing Construction Pvt. Ltd. conducted a session on Developing Entrepreneurial Mindset in Youngsters as part of Converge 2.0 an initiative of GSHEC and DHE for FYBBA and SYBBA students on 10th March 2025.

SYBBA student, Mitesh secured third place in Beyond D Street part of Moneta 2024, a finance event organised by RA Podar College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai from 12th to 14th December 2024

Mr. Sandeep Bind, Mr. Sachin Lamani, and Mr. Kiran Lamani; TYBBA students secured second place in 400 mts Relay Race in XLVI Annual Athletic Meet 2024-25 organised by Department of Physical Education and Sports on 11th January, 2025.

Prashanti Jalaneela and Sachin Lamani from TYBBA won first place in Tidal Circuit (Physical Fitness) in Nexus 2024, organised by Department of Management Studies, Agnel Institute of Technology & Design, Mapusa on 15th November 2024.

Mikhail Fernandes, SYBBA students has been shortlisted in top 110 authors of India by World Record Anthology Book.
